Is there any difference between gold-finished and gold-plated, or is it just a new way to market gold plate?

"Gold-plated" items have an industry standard of 0.15 to 0.25 mils thickness of gold that is plated to the surface of the base metal. "Gold-finished" items may or may not meet that industry standard.
