I have started making personalized, metal-stamped, sterling necklace charms. I am having a hard time figuring out what type of "necklace" material to use. I love the look of a chain but cannot seem to find spacer beads to fit over the clasps on either end to go between the silver discs. (I do not want to use crimp beads, as I like the movement and changeability of the charms, and this would inhibit it.) Thank you SO much for your time and help!!

Neckwires, beading chain or neck cords might be nice choices for you. Each of these come in various diameters and materials, and allow for free movement of the components that are placed on them. Caprice chain is another alternative you might like. Caprice chain has one end that can be removed so you can slide components on or off. Once you're all set, you can then screw the end back on to keep everything in place. This chain is available in two different diameters (2mm and 3mm), in two bracelet lengths (7-1/2 and 8-1/2 inches) as well as necklace lengths in (16- and 18-inches).

Bead keepers are often used with this type of chain, as they fit snugly around the chain's diameter due to the silicone lining yet can be easily moved around. This makes them ideal for keeping components in specific places and flexible when designing or changing your mind. There are also many styles of large-hole beads that will slide over some clasps on chain and work great on the caprice chain.
