I have some pieces that have some rhinestones in them that don't look so good. I want to remove and replace them without damaging the metals, but it seems they are glued in. Is it possible to remove them?

If you are able to get a dental pick or other strong, small tip tool under the stone, you may be able to pop it out of the setting. When attempting this, wear eye protection and be careful to not damage the metal setting.

If this is not possible, try softening the glue by wrapping the piece with a wet soapy cloth and let stand for several hours. If this doesn't work, repeat the process using baby oil. Acetone or isopropyl alcohol are other liquids often recommended for glue removal, although they are harsher treatments, so use caution when handling.

Once the rhinestone(s) has been removed from the metal setting, while using caution, a needle file can be used to carefully clean any excess glue from the metal. Clean the metal with ODX Degreaser then allow the metal to dry completely before gluing in a new rhinestone. To glue a replacement foil-back rhinestone into the setting, use Devcon 2-part Jeweler’s Epoxy or Jewel Bond™ adhesive as they will not harm the foil.
