What is a juried craft show?

A juried craft show is one that has a selection committee deciding which crafter gets into the show. Many times the shows are juried so that the show producers can ensure the vendors fit into their vision and feel of what the show is all about. Sometimes the producers of juried shows will require a fee as well as a percentage of sales.

Usually you send in a portfolio that includes an application, photos of your work, and a resume along with a jury fee. When you call or send for an application form, all the information regarding the jurying process will be listed. Some fairs will have you send in actual samples of your work. It's important to follow the jurying process carefully. Some shows will toss out any applications that are incomplete, didn't follow specific instructions or have photos of poor quality.

A selection committee will look over your photos (or samples) and then make their choice based on criteria such as originality, creativity, marketability, general appeal, available space in your particular category and quality of craft and booth design.
