A double simple loop transforms beads into links with a loop on each side. View an up-close demonstration by jewelry-making expert Tammy Honaman on how to make this simple jewelry technique that every designer should learn.
Use the double simple loop technique to transform any bead into a jewelry component that can be linked to any number of elements. Use these connected pieces to form unique jewelry designs.
Thread bead(s) onto a length of wire or an eyepin. Using chain-nose pliers, bend one end of the wire to a 90-degree angle, formed as close to the last bead as possible.
Using flush-cutters, trim the excess wire to approximately 1/2 inch.
Grip the end of the wire using round-nose pliers, placing the wire about 1/4 inch down the barrel of the pliers. Rotate your wrist away from you, while at the same time pushing the tip of your thumb on the other hand into the angle in the wire below the forming loop (your thumb will help keep the angle sharp and loop circular); turn the wire into a loop. If you used a length of wire rather than an eyepin, repeat Steps 2 and 3 on the other side of the bead to create the second loop.
