Meet the Designer-Artist

Where do you live?

I live in sunny Southern California with my fiancé and two cats.

What inspires you as a designer-artist?

Each stone I work with inspires me in a different way, and I love creating a piece that best frames the stone I’m working with. I’m also friends with a lot of other creative minds and they inspire me endlessly to keep doing what I love!

What medium do you work with mostly?

I typically work with wire to create stunning statement pieces, and copper electroforming for more wearable, everyday pieces.

Why did you become enchanted with this style of jewelry-making?

Originally, I worked with small findings and metal clay to create refined, unique pieces. I wanted to stay far far away from wirewrapping! It looked so difficult and I didn’t think I would have the patience. Eventually I got around to using wire to make bails, and then slowly descended into purchasing more and more wire to experiment with different wrapping styles. It completely hooked me! I love setting my mind on a design and being able to relax for a few hours while I work on a new piece. But believe me, I’ve gone through a lot of trial-and-error wire in the process!

Where and how do you sell your jewelry?

I sell my one-of-a-kind pieces on etsy! You can find them at bluskyarts.etsy.com.

What is the name of the piece you submitted with your success story?

Intricate Phosphosiderite

What inspired this design?

This specific piece came to me just like all my other pieces. I look for inspiration and make a couple pieces to scrap and learn from. I really liked how this piece looks like an heirloom brooch, so I kept it pretty simple with the added design.
