Where do you live?
In Brno, Czech Republic, Europe.
What inspires you as a designer-artist?
My biggest inspiration is nature itself. I also like fantasy worlds, fairies, Victorian and Medieval eras and Celtic art.
What medium do you work with mostly?
I use mostly sterling or fine silver wire and sheet. For wire-wrapped pieces, I usually use 18-22 gauge for the base and 28-33 gauge for wrapping. I love gemstones and pearls, my favorites are especially moonstone, peridot and vesuvianite.
Why did you become enchanted with this style of jewelry-making?
I make jewelry I would like to wear myself-it is that simple. I love making fantasies alive and my jewelry world is my favorite escape place.
Where and How do you sell your jewelry?
I have an online world-wide shop: www.eire-handmade.com and I also sell my designs on Etsy.
What is the name of the piece you submitted with your success story?
Oak Grove
What inspired this design?
I love Celtic knotwork, oak leaves and green stones, so when I found out about the Metal Contest, it was a simple choice. I also wanted to test myself--to see if I can make the knotwork right and make such a big necklace from scratch--including bail, clasps etc. I am very happy that it came out so well.
How did it come together?
I made a very detailed real-size sketch (most detailed I ever did, actually), because I wanted the knotwork to fit. I changed it a little, but otherwise, I followed it through. But most times, I only have a vague idea and adjust the design while working on it.
