Chainmaille artist and author Sue Ripsch walks you through the steps on how to start a double spiral rope weave with jump rings for creating chain mail jewelry.
Instructions
Close two jump rings then string them onto a length of wire. Twist the ends of the wire closed, forming a handle.
Use chain-nose pliers to pass a jump ring through both closed jump rings attached to the wire then close. Repeat to attach a second jump ring, creating a 2-2 chain.
Pass a jump ring through both pairs of jump rings attached in Steps 1 and 2 then close. Repeat to attach a second jump ring.
Continue passing a pair of jump rings through the previous two pairs of jump rings until the desired length of double spiral chainmaille rope is reached.
