How to Create a Roundmaille Weave

Note: Copper and silver jump rings are used in images, and referenced in instructions, to better show the different layers of the weave. Feel free to use the jump ring colors of your choice. Newly added jump rings are blue in each example image.

Step 1

Pass one silver jump ring through two copper jump rings, then close. Repeat to create a 2-1 chain that is five sets of rings in length.

Pass a silver ring through the first and last sets of copper rings of the chain, then close.

Step 2

Position the rings so the silver jump rings slant down and the copper jump rings slant up.

Note: For more stable handling, wrap a piece of scrap wire or a twist through the three silver jump ring.
