Using a pair of scissors, cut one 80-inch length of black cotton wax cord.
Fold the 80-inch length of black cotton cord in half. Tie the looped end of the cord in an overhand knot 1 inch from the end creating a 3/4 inch loop on the end of the cord.
Cut an 80-inch length of plum silk thread. Fold the plum thread in half. Secure the plum thread around the black cord using a lark's head knot under the overhand knot on the cord.
For this project you will want to make tight wraps to keep the finished project looking neat.
Wrap the two strands of plum thread once around the right black cord, then cross over in between the cords and wrap the threads around the left cord in the opposite direction in a figure-eight wrap. Pull the thread tight to pull the two black cords next to each other. Continue to wrap the plum thread around the black cords for 2-1/4 inches.
After the plum thread wraps around the right black cord, string one silver 3x3mm cube bead onto the thread and position it between the right and left black cords. Wrap the plum thread around the left cord in the opposite direction. Pass the thread back through the bead going in the opposite direction. Bring the threads back around the right cord. Repeat until eleven silver 3x3mm cube beads have been attached between the cords. (2mm of black cord will show in between the plum thread where the beads have been attached).
Continue to wrap the plum threads in single figure-eight wraps around the cords for 2 inches. Lay the plum strands next to the right black cord.
Attach a doubled gold thread around the right black cord using a lark's head knot. Wrap the gold threads in single figure-eight wraps around the cords (with the plum thread hidden next to the right black cord for 1/4 inch (approximately 6 wraps). Cut the excess plum thread.
Attach a doubled maroon thread around the right black cord using a lark's head knot. Wrap the maroon threads in single figure-eight wraps around the cords (with the gold thread hidden next to the right black cord for 1/8 inch (approximately 4 wraps).
Lay the maroon thread next to the black cord. Wrap the gold threads in single figure-eight wraps around the cords (with the maroon thread hidden next to the right black cord for 1/4 inch (approximately 6 wraps).
Attach a doubled black thread around the right black cord using a lark's head knot. Wrap the black threads in single figure-eight wraps around the cords (with the gold and maroon thread hidden next to the black cord for 1/8 inch (approximately 4 wraps).
Continue to wrap the colored threads around the black cords, hiding the threads not being used next to the black cords in the following pattern:
Tie the end of the brown thread around the black cord with two overhand knots to secure in place. Apply a small amount of adhesive to the knot for added security (optional).
Tie the black cord in an overhand knot where the brown thread stops.
Pass a 15mm wood rondelle onto a headpin. Using one pair of chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and flat-nose pliers, form a 4mm loop next to the rondelle. Pass the loop through the black cords on the overhand knot. Finish the wire with a wrapped loop.
