Are you ready to try your hand at a friendship bracelet for your BFFs featuring a diamond pattern? This video is going to walk you through the entire process, including how to read the pattern!
Cut the following lengths of cord:
Gather and center all the cord lengths. Beginning in the center of the cords and using the shorter length of red cord as the working cord, tie a series of half hitch knots around the other six cords for approximately 1-1/2 inches. This will naturally create a spiral.
Bend the length of spiraled cord into a teardrop, bringing the ends of all the cords together. Continue by tying a spiral of half hitch knots around all 12 cords with the red working cord for at least 1/4 of an inch.
Trim the red working cord and secure with a small amount of adhesive. Set aside to cure.
Secure the loop created in Step 2 to a work surface.
Arrange the cords in the following order:
Use the left outer purple cord as the working cord. Tie a half hitch knot around the adjacent red cord and pull tight. Repeat, using the purple working cord, to tie half hitch knots around the orange, yellow and white cords.
Use the right outer purple cord as the working cord. Tie backward half hitch knots around the next four cords.
Using what is now the left-center purple cord, tie a half hitch knot around the right-center purple cord.
Repeat Steps 4 and 5 using the following as working cords:
Use the leftmost white cord as the working cord. Tie half hitch knots around the next three cords and a double half hitch knot around the fourth cord.
Use the rightmost cord as the working cord. Tie backward half hitch knots around the next three cords and a backward double half hitch knot around the fourth cord.
Use the leftmost purple cord as a working cord. Tie a half hitch knot on the second cord. Tie a double half hitch knot then a backward half hitch knot on the next cord.
Use the rightmost purple cord as the working cord. Tie a backward half hitch knot on the second cord. Tie a backward double half hitch knot then a half hitch knot on the next cord.
Use the leftmost white cord as the working cord. Moving out, tie backward half hitch knots on the next three cords.
Use the rightmost white cord as the working cord. Tie half hitch knots on the next three cords.
Use the left-center yellow cord as the working cord. Moving out, tie backward half hitch knots on the next four cords. Tie a backward double half hitch knot on the next cord.
Use the right-center yellow cord as the working cord. Moving out, tie half hitch knots on the next four cords. Tie a double half hitch knot on the next cord.
Use the left-center orange cord to tie a half hitch knot on the right-center orange cord.
Use the left-center cord as the working cord. Moving out, tie backward half hitch knots around the next two cords. Tie a backward double half hitch knot on the next cord.
Use the right-center orange cord as the working cord. Moving out, tie half hitch knots around the next two cords. Tie a double half hitch knot on the next cord.
Use the left-center red cord to tie a half hitch knot on the right-center red cord.
Use the left-center red cord as the working cord. Moving out, tie a backward half hitch knot on the next cord and a backward double half hitch knot around the next.
Use the right-center red cord as the working cord. Moving out, tie a half hitch knot on the next cord and a double half hitch knot around the next.
Use the left-center red cord to tie a half hitch knot on the right center red cord.
Use the leftmost orange cord as the working cord. Moving in, tie half hitch knots on the next two cords.
Use the rightmost orange cord as the working cord. Moving in, tie backward half hitch knots on the next two cords.
Use the left-center orange cord to tie a half hitch knot on the right-center orange cord.
Use the leftmost yellow cord as the working cord. Moving in, tie half hitch knots on the next four cords.
Use the rightmost yellow cord as the working cord. Moving in, tie backward half hitch knots on the next four cords.
Use the left-center yellow cord to tie a half hitch knot on the right-center yellow cord.
Repeat Steps 7 - 19 until the bracelet is approximately 2-inches from the shortest wearable length desired.
Repeat Steps 3 - 5.
Use the left-center yellow cord as the working cord. Moving out, tie backward half hitch knots on the next four cords.
Use the right-center yellow cord as the working cord. Moving out, tie half hitch knots on the next four cords.
Use the left-center orange cord to tie a half hitch knot on the right center orange cord.
Repeat Step 22 using the center orange cords as working cords.
Repeat Step 22 using the red cords as working cords then again using the purple cords.
Gather the six leftmost cords and separate them into three groups of two. Using each pair of cords as a single cord, create a three-strand braid. Secure with an overhand knot then trim. If desired, add adhesive to the overhand knot for additional security.
Repeat with the remaining six cords.
