Instructions
Trim twelve sheets of newspaper or pages of a book into 9x5 inch rectangles.
Glue two sheets together with the type facing outwards. Repeat to create six 2-ply sheets.
Trim each 2-ply sheet into long triangles for a total of six triangles.
Slide the wide end of one 2-ply sheet into the slotted end of the roller.
Twist the roller, maintaining tension for the first two or three turns. Loosen the tension and adjust the paper to achieve the desired look. Continue to roll the paper until you are about 2 or 3 inches from the end.
While holding the paper bead roller in your non-dominant hand, use the paint brush in your dominant hand to apply a thin layer of adhesive along the underside of the remaining two or three inches of paper.
Roller the remaining paper until the entire strip of paper is wound around the roller and the bead is formed. Using the paintbrush, smooth any glue that has seeped out. Apply a final layer of glue for added security, if desired.
Slide the bead off the roller. Use a toothpick to clean out the glue that may have seeped into the hole of the bead to create a clean edge. Place onto a non-stick surface to air dry.
Tip: Use an adhesive sealer on finished beads to create a durable and strong bead.
String one 2.5mm round, one 4mm faceted round and one 2.5mm round onto one 1-inch eye pin. Form a simple loop.
Repeat to create a total of eight links.
String one 2.5mm round, one paper bead and one 2.5mm round onto one 2-inch head pin. Form a simple loop.
Repeat to create a total of six drops.
Cut four 2-inch lengths of chain.
Use the simple loops to attach one link to one drop. Repeat to create a total of two dangles.
Use one oval jump ring to attach a dangle on either end loop on the TierraCast® drop.
Repeat to attach a length of chain on either loop beside the previous loops.
Note: The inside loop should be empty.
Use one oval jump ring to attach one dangle to the inside loop. Use the simple loops to attach the previous dangle to the remaining dangle.
Use the simple loops to attach the remaining paper bead to the previously added dangle to create the first earring.
Repeat Steps 2 - 13 to create a second earring.
