Clay Clean-Up

video

Award-winning mixed media artist Lisa Pavelka is here to share a favorite polymer clay tip for keeping your finished clay project clean free of surface contaminants and how to use your hobby knife to remove any pesky spots.

When surface contamination occurs in white or light colored clay it's tempting to scrape the specks away with a craft knife. Avoid the dreaded divot caused by the hobby knife by removing these problems after baking instead of before. Once the clay piece has cooled, simply use the flat edge of a hobby knife to scrape any stray clay specks until they are no longer visible. If needed, turn and scrape from another angle to get a better angle on the issue.
