Instructions
Cut the following lengths of Berkley® Fireline®:
Thread a beading needle onto the 3-yard length of thread, almost doubling your thread but leaving a tail, making it easier to work. Attach a stop bead to the working end of the thread, leaving approximately a 6-inch tail. Do not use this bead when working your pattern.
Tip: It may be necessary to cut other lengths of thread later in the design.
String 20 #11 seed beads onto the 3-foot length of thread.
Begin working in even count peyote, creating a strip that is 20 beads wide and the length of the barrette (approximately 3 inches in length).
Once complete, weave the thread back into the beadwork and trim excess thread.
String four #11 seed beads onto the thread.
Begin working in even count peyote to create a strip that is four beads wide and approximately 20 beads in length, making sure that the length is long enough to wrap around the center of the first strip tightly so that it begins to look like a bow.
Once complete to the desired length, wrap the strip around the first strip, tightly, then bring the ends of the thread together so they overlap. Pass the needle through the seed beads once more. Pull the thread snug, weave the thread back into the beadwork and trim excess thread, completing the bow.
Tip: To better secure Strip 2 onto Strip 1, weave the thread back through beads of both strips, if desired.
Place the bow, centered, over the barrette then weave the thread back into the beadwork and around the left portion of the barrette frame to secure it.
Repeat to the opposite side.
String onto the hole at the end of the barrette frame and through the nearest bead. Weave back through both a few times to better secure the bow to the frame.
Repeat to the opposite side.
