Single-Strand Necklace with Ruby Gemstone Beads and Cultured Freshwater Pearls

Instructions

Step 1

Cut a 9 link length of chain.

Step 2

Cut a 2-1/2 inch length of 26 gauge wire and thread it through a ruby briolette extending 1-1/4 inch of the wire on one side. Cross both wires above the briolette into an "X", making sure the short wire is on the bottom. Wrap the short wire over the long wire two times and then trim the short wire. Wrap the remaining long wire to create a wrapped loop and connect it to the end link in the chain from Step 1.

Step 3

Repeat Step 2 with a keshi pearl, connecting it to the link above the first briolette.

Step 4

Repeat Step 2 and Step 3, alternating linking rubies and pearls to the links in the chain, creating a cascade.

Step 5

Cut four lengths of chain 5 links each.

Step 6

Cut a 2-1/2 inch length of 26 gauge wire and create a wrapped loop, connecting it to the top link in the 9 link beaded cascade chain. String a pearl, a ruby, and a pearl and create a wrapped loop, connecting it to the end link of a 5 link length of chain from Step 5. Repeat, connecting a second beaded link with a second 5 link chain to the top link in the cascade.

Step 7

Repeat Step 6, connecting the beaded wire links and the last two 5 link lengths of chain to the chains added in Step 6.

Step 8

Cut two lengths of chain 4 inches in length.

Step 9

Repeat Step 7, connecting the beaded wire links and the two 4-inch lengths of chain to the 5 link lengths of chain added in Step 7.

Step 10

Cut a 2-inch length of 24 gauge wire and create a wrapped loop connecting it to the end of the 4-inch length of chain on one side of the necklace. String a pearl and create a second wrapped loop, connecting it to a lobster claw clasp. Repeat for the other side of the necklace, connecting it to a closed jump ring.
