Instructions
Cut the following lengths of wire:
Working off the spool, position the end of the wire in between the barrels of the round-nose pliers, near the tips. Press the thumb of your non-dominant hand against the wire immediately below the barrel of the pliers and rotate the pliers away from you, forming an eye in the wire.
Reposition the pliers, regripping the eye, then rotate your wrist again, wrapping the wire and starting the second spiral.
Place the growing spiral flat in the back of the nylon jaw pliers close to the joint, so the straight length of wire is closest to you. While pressing the thumb of your non-dominate hand on the straight length of the wire, rotate the wrist holding the pliers inward. This will bend the bend the straight wire around the curve of the spiral.
Remove the pliers then use the index finger of your dominant hand to press the wire towards you, forming a curve. Slide the index finger down the wire to the desired length.
At the desired length bend the wire back towards the spiral then open in the opposite direction to create the point of the pendant. Curve the wire towards the spiral so that the wire crosses over itself. Shape as desired then form a simple loop around the wire, immediately underneath the spiral. Cut the wire.
Place the wire form on the steel block. Using a light touch with the chasing hammer, hammer the wire to add texture and strength.
Use a polishing cloth to bring up the shine of the wire.
Tightly wrap the copper wire around one side of the wire form. Repeat for a total of four times, each wrap immediately next to the last.
Bring the copper wire across to the opposite side of the wire form then wrap twice.
Repeat zigzagging throughout from the top to bottom of the wire form.
Tightly wrap the remaining length of sterling silver wire onto the wire form, immediately underneath the first wrap of the copper wire. Repeat for a total of four wraps, each immediately next to the last.
String on one amethyst bead then bring the wire towards the bottom of the wire form. Tightly wrap the wire around the wire form, making sure each wrap is immediately next to the last for a total of four wraps. Trim any excess wire.
Use the bail to attach the wire form onto the chain.
Cut two 7-inch lengths of copper wire.
