Instructions
Using the end of a battery-operated bead reamer or a manual bead reamer or file, roughen the back of a 20mm amazonite round cabochon where the bail will adhere. Do the same to the part of a 23x14mm antique silver-plated glue-on leaf bail that will be glued to the cabochon.
Mix a drop of Devcon 5 Minute® Epoxy, stirring for 1 minute. Apply the epoxy to the center half of the bail. Make sure to use enough to make contact, but not enough to spill out when the cabochon is attached. Keep the epoxy away from the edges of the bail. Set the bail on a flat surface covered with a silicone mat. Center the cabochon onto the bail so that it’s even at the top. Slide a toothpick under the unsupported end of the cabochon and let the epoxy dry for 20 minutes to ensure it has been completely set. When the epoxy is dry, scrape off any excess with a sharp knife.
Cut one 17-1/2 inch length of 4mm silver-plated S-bar chain.
Cut one straightened length of ParaWire™ 16-gauge silver-plated copper round wire.
Using round-nose pliers, make a simple loop in one end of the ParaWire you just cut. With the loop facing outward, wrap the wire completely around Wubbers® Designer Mandrel jumbo round pliers to form a circle.
The wire will spring out a bit. Ensure the cabochon can pass through the circle with about 2mm of clearance.
Wrap the tail of the wire tightly around the circle just past the simple loop. Trim excess and tuck in the tail in the back.
Attach one end of the 17-1/2 inch length of chain to the simple loop.
Use one 6mm 18-gauge jump ring to attach an 8x7mm sterling silver cursive letter charm to the cabochon bail.
Add a 6mm 18-gauge silver-plated jump ring to the bail on the cabochon above the letter charm and add the free end of the chain to it before closing it.
Glue a Aanraku® 13x6mm silver-plated glue-on earring leaf bail onto the back of a 12mm round amazonite cabochon, using the same technique used in Step 1 from the Necklace instructions.
Cut one 3/4 inch length of 4mm silver-plated S-bar chain, ending with an S-bar link
Add the bottom of the S-bar chain to the bail on the cabochon, using a 4mm 20-gauge silver-plated jump ring.
Add one 15mm fishhook ear wire to the top of the chain.
Repeat for the second earring, orientating the S-bar so the earrings mirror each other.
