Topics: Metal Clay, Paste

Q.
If I want to make a small amount of paste from my Silver Art Clay, someone told me to mix it with some kind of oil. What kind of oil?
- Thank you C.W.
A.
Water is all you need to make paste from metal clay; preferably distilled water since it has fewer impurities versus tap or well water.

Remove a small pad of clay from the package, place it onto your work surface then add a few drops of water. Using a stiff tool, like a spatula from the carving tool set, press the clay into the water and continue to work the materials until they are well blended and the clay more like a paste. If you want a thinner version of paste, place the pad of clay into a small resealable container and work water into the clay inside the container so the paste is well contained and can be stored for future use.
