Cute as a button! Embellish a peyote bracelet with buttons and a button clasp to create a cheerful, versatile design. Crystal Passions architectural shape buttons add sparkle and elegance. All you need are the beads and buttons, a beading needle, thread and scissors!
Adding a button clasp and button embellishments to a peyote bracelet.
Using 2-cut size 6 seed beads, create a peyote stitch bracelet 5 beads wide and to a length, minus the size of the button clasp, which fits your wrist. Leave a very long tail of thread at both the beginning and the end of your bracelet.
Add a needle to the tail at the beginning of the bracelet. Weave the thread through the beads until you reach the middle bead in the first row of the bracelet. Pick up a 2-cut size 6 seed bead then weave the thread back into the bracelet, securing the bead in place. Work the thread until it comes back out the bead.
Pick up the shank of one button, then pass the thread through the bead and the shank several times to secure. Weave the thread back into the bracelet to finish; trim any excess thread.
Add a needle to the other tail. String 22 size 11 seed beads onto the thread. Pass the needle through the center bead on the last row of the bracelet, drawing the beads into a loop. Go through the seed beads and the center bead at least one more time to secure. Weave the end of the thread back through the bracelet to end; trim any excess thread.
Cut a comfortable length of thread and add your needle. Decide where you'd like a button embellishment then bring the needle into the bracelet a few rows over from this spot. Weave the thread through the base beads over to the spot, then exit the closest base bead. Thread on the button then pass the thread through the bead and the button several times to secure. Weave the thread back through the bracelet to end; trim any excess thread.
This now completes your bracelet.
