Meet the Designer-Artist
Where do you live?
Tallahassee, Florida.
Describe your artistic style.
Design special pieces to match the wearer's personality and style to compliment particular outfits at times.
What inspires you as a designer-artist?
I have two daughters and a daughter-in-law that love to wear my creations.
What materials do you most enjoy working with?
Crystals and pearls.
What is the name of the piece you submitted with your success story?
Sand and Sea Pearl and Shell
What inspired this design?
My daughter gave me a wire-wrapping book. It had an ugly design made with a wire hoop earring, and I thought I could improve with the shell focal.
How did it come together? For example, did you plan it out or did it define itself once you began working?
I just began working after drilling the focal. This was my very first experience with wire wrapping.
Share Your Background
When and how did you begin making jewelry/beading?
I started about twenty years ago.
Who introduced you to beading?
A co-worker introduced me.
Do you have an artistic background?
I have more a "crafty" background than artistic.
How did you discover Fire Mountain Gems and Beads®?
I learned about Fire Mountain as soon as I learned how to bead! Thank God for that!
What other hobbies do you have?
Bird watching.
Beading Success
What role does jewelry-making play in your life?
I have a job that requires me to sit at a computer 40 hours a week. Beading keeps me sane.
Do you participate in any charity fundraisers?
Not as a seller, but as a buyer.
Any advice for aspiring jewelry-artists?
Have fun!!! |
