What inspires you as a designer-artist? My husband Michael was inspired a few years back when we were vacationing in Casa Grande, Arizona. There he saw and bought a couple of magnetic bracelets and ever since has wanted to make his own. So a year ago we ordered some beads, clasps and spacers from Arizona and voila, he hasn't stopped creating since. My husband was 80 years old when he started making the bracelets and self-taught himself through trial and error.
What medium do you work with mostly? We use hematite beads, magnetic clasps, and accented the pieces with medallions, pendants and spacers. We add bling to what was normally black hematite beaded bracelets.
Why did you become enchanted with this style of jewelry-making? Michael liked the therapeutic benefits of the magnets, but I said if you are going to make them they have to be pretty, sparkly, attractive or classy.
So that's what we did.
Where and How do you sell your jewelry? We sell our jewelry at local arts and craft shows.
What is the name of the piece you submitted with your success story? Turquoise Starburst
What inspired this design? The beauty of the medallion.
How did it come together? It defined itself. Like most of the pieces we create.
