Meet the Designer-Artist

Where do you live?
Redding, California

Describe your artistic style.
Our artistic style tends to be classic, however we enjoy creating modern, regional, contemporary, as well as creating new designs and styles.

What materials do you most enjoy working with?
Materials we most enjoy working with include sterling silver wire, dichroic glass (which we fuse), gemstone, crystals and pearls.

What is the name of the piece you submitted with your success story?
Elegance Necklace and Earrings

What inspired this design?
While often jewelry begins as a creative expression of an individual, the jewelry we create is a multi level co-collaboration process. The pieces we make are created to bring blessing and encouragement to the person receiving it and so not only do we combine our unique gifts and skills to co create the pieces, but in the design and inspiration process I often write a specific word of blessing or encouragement that goes with the piece. I love to write, I love color, I love design and so I am able to draft designs, select materials and write messages of blessing that are given with each piece and Casey is able to use his love for detail and gift with wire working to create pieces that are not only beautiful but bring joy to our customers with the messages of love, encouragement and blessing that they receive with each piece. We call it "prophetic jewelry" as it often becomes a signature or "season" piece for a woman or man where the message they receive with the jewelry represents a time of change or new beginnings or perspective for their life. The beauty and blessing of each piece carries with it a deeper significance than simply the decorative value but the message that the piece carries reaches the heart.

How did it come together? For example, did you plan it out or did it define itself once you began working?
The key design was clearly by intention. The Royal Beauty and Turquoise Tablet designs are creations that came as they were being created.

Share Your Background

When and how did you begin making jewelry/beading?
Casey has been active in various arts since he was young using many different mediums including clay and material. However, has only directly been in jewelry making for the last four years.

Do you have an artistic background?
Casey began jewelry making with Catherine King who was invited to a large jewelry show and needed help preparing for it.

How did you discover Fire Mountain Gems and BeadsĀ®?
Our relationship with Fire Mountain Gems began when we had to prepare for the jewelry show several years ago. It required quite a volume of material and Fire Mountain Gems has such a huge selection and availability of materials, it was a natural choice.

What other hobbies do you have?
Other hobbies include inventions and music, particularly guitar and songwriting.

Do you belong to any beading societies or beading groups?
We do not belong to any beading societies or groups directly, but do teach classes both on beading and stimulating and cultivating the creative gift within.

Beading Success

What role does jewelry-making play in your life?
Jewelry making is my life! I am inspired by it and bring inspiration to it. It is a full-time endeavor for me and a great way to express my creativity. We believe in the power of God and believe that the jewelry carries the ability to impact others. We have heard so many testimonials from people who have purchased or received our jewelry and the blessing they have experienced as a result. Most of our pieces come with a specific prayer or blessing on each one that people are very blessed to read and receive when they purchase the jewelry for themselves or as a gift for a friend.

If you used jewelry-making as a way to bring in income, how are you selling yourself and your jewelry?
We participate in many local craft fairs, conferences, markets, art shows and private shows. The jewelry is regularly a platform for public events including speaking engagements in church and women's retreat contexts. We do maintain a website at www.kingdomcreations.biz. We participate regularly in the Fire Mountain Gems contest and others that we hear of.

Do you participate in any charity fundraisers?
We do participate in charity fundraisers and offer jewelry to sell to support missions trips and other significant events. We teach children creativity through the beading lessons we offer and have done some beading parties by request as well.

Any advice for aspiring jewelry-artists?
Our advice: Never stop beading. Allow the colors, textures and variety available to stir your imagination and spirit to make beautiful things! You impart a piece of you every time you make something! And you are amazing.
