Meet the Designer-Artist
Where do you live?
Alturas, California
What inspires you as a designer-artist?
I just love making jewelry, especially taking old jewelry and designing new pieces out of it.
What medium do you work with mostly?
I enjoy making all types in general. But my favorite is more in the Steampunk line.
Why did you become enchanted with this style of jewelry-making?
When I started making jewelry, I had a lot of people sending me broken or un-used jewelry. One man sent me 36 watches that I needed a use for, so I took them apart and used the gears, watch faces and that got me started.
Where and How do you sell your jewelry?
Right now I just sell them by word of mouth, I plan on trying Etsy as I bought the book: Etsy for Dummies (and that's me-LOL) A friend of mine put a link on Facebook for me and I wasn't really too happy with it, but it was a great link or advertisement.
What is the name of the piece you submitted with your success story?
Blue Moon
What inspired this design?
I tore apart an old bracelet, threw in a few seed beads, watch gears, and added matching blue beads to the silver chain I had leftover and it became a very popular item.
How did it come together?
It just sort of came together once I started working. I had several of the round pieces from the old bracelet, and I wanted to add matching stone beads and the watch gears I had worked so hard in digging out of the watches and of course I had to put resin on top to hold it all together. This actually was my first piece of jewelry. |
