Meet the Designer-Artist
While working in Los Angeles I was intrigued by the different elements of style that were showing on the west coast. I started designing my own jewelry to accommodate my fashion changes. I had always done artwork and had been attached to the design field by being a fine artist specializing in drawings, paintings, mural projects and sandblasted glass. My jewelry started to receive attention and I started selling pieces. The building I lived in housed several famous people who would bring their friends up the back steps of my apartment and knock on the door. My neighbor, a film director, would send over models, actors and actresses, dancers and musicians over to visit my bead room while he fixed dinner for everyone. I established friendships with many of these people who later became my models, clients, and promoters. Living in Los Angeles gave me an international stage and within a few years I was selling throughout the U.S., and to other countries. My work was accepted in stores, design companies, and museums in Beverly Hills and the mid Wilshire area. My work has shown up on Extra and Entertainment Tonight. Living in L.A. was quite an adventure. I was exposed to and had opportunities that would never happen to me in the Midwest. I now go back and forth from Los Angeles and Indianapolis and continue to make art. |
