Meet the Designer-Artist

Where do you live?
West Roxburg, Massachusetts

Describe your artistic style.
I am a true beginner. I love to experiment with new designs. I love cascade of colors and shimmers. My designs are eye candies.

What inspires you as a designer-artist?
Michael Boyd. Hughes-Bosca, Ahette Ehinger, Marco Biego, Keith Lewis, Barbra Leeinrich.

What materials do you most enjoy working with?
Gold, gold-filled, vermeil, semi-precious, precious gems and stones. I don't make anything that I wouldn't wear myself.

What is the name of the piece you submitted with your success story?
Paradise Blossomed Garden

What inspired this design?
I was inspired by springtime. The blooming colors all around me. As I bloomed through my pregnancy, I grew happier and more peaceful.

How did it come together? For example, did you plan it out or did it define itself once you began working?
I planned it. I had to visualize it in my head first. I knew it would be long, in style, colorful and playful.

Share Your Background

When and how did you begin making jewelry/beading?
I was always enjoying jewelry and shiny things since I was a kid. I bought lots of beads and wire and tried it and I liked it!

Who introduced you to beading?
I started one year ago. I just went to some bead shows next to my house and decided to try myself. I was sure I could do it.

Do you have an artistic background?
No, I teach myself usually.

How did you discover Fire Mountain Gems and BeadsĀ®?
When I started to look for beads and beading supplies I came across the website on one of the searches.

What other hobbies do you have?
I enjoy cross stitching, reading, learning new things, meeting new people, spending time with my friends and family. I love throwing parties and cooking for everyone. We usually have sit-down dinners.

Beading Success

What role does jewelry-making play in your life?
It's my hobby for now. I'm nine months pregnant and it's relaxing me a great deal. I would love to do this for a living.

If you used jewelry-making as a way to bring in income, how are you selling yourself and your jewelry?
This is my first contest, Fire Mountain Gems and Beads 2009 Beading Contest. I am a true beginner.

Any advice for aspiring jewelry-artists?
Don't be afraid to start. If something doesn't go together, leave it aside and it will come to you later. Internet is a great research tool. Do not hesitate to learn on your own.
