Meet the Designer-Artist
Where do you live?
Portland, Oregon
What inspires you as a designer-artist?
Nature is my inspiration for all my creativity, from flowers to marine life. I am fascinated by color which has no boundaries only possibilities. From architecture I see forms, and endless construction possibilities.
What medium do you work with mostly?
Beads, though I have recently taught myself to make silk ribbon for jewelry making and I am fascinated by color yet again. I work in both bead embroidery and bead weaving and have for several decades.
Why did you become enchanted with this style of jewelry-making?
As a teenager growing up in the sixties, long dangle earrings, loomed necklaces and my favorite bead-embroidered jeans jackets.
Where and How do you sell your jewelry?
I have two shops on etsy.
What is the name of the piece you submitted with your success story?
Metamorphosis: A Venetian Mask
What inspired this design?
This piece was a challenge to see if I could make a completely beaded mask, I had never seen one done.
How did it come together?
I took some time to design this piece, finding the right papier-mâché mask to the colors and feathers to be used. |
