Meet the Designer-Artist

Where do you live?
Seffner, Florida

What inspires you as a designer-artist?
The beauty that is all around us. God. I had a dream one night about a necklace. When I woke up I researched the websites on how to make jewelry and that is how I started.

What medium do you work with mostly?
You have so many beautiful beads and stones that I like to use all of them. I do not have just one type of bead or style to work with.

Why did you become enchanted with this style of jewelry-making?
I have only been making jewelry for three years now. I am still learning new techniques. I do not have just one style. I see a jewelry idea in my head at night when I go to sleep and when I wake up in the morning and it excites me to want to make the many kinds of styles.

Where and How do you sell your jewelry?
Mostly to friends. But starting this year I hope to be selling my jewelry in a tattoo store. He liked my pieces and he is setting a showcase to sell them in. He has tanning booths so that the ladies and the men can see them as they go to the booths. I posted some of my jewelry on Facebook for friends and family to see and one time I had a jewelry party and sold a lot of my jewelry. One of my CNA’s likes to buy bracelets from me.

What inspired this design?
I wanted to see if I could make something very unusual.

How did it come together?
I had the component with three holes and I wanted to see what I could do with it. So I took my beads to see what would look good. I decided to use the pearls. And three different kinds of bead caps. A little trial and error to get it just right.
