Cleaning a Clay Extruder

Once you are done using your extruder, it’s a good idea to make sure it is cleaned thoroughly before storing.
STEP 1

Remove the bottom cap from the barrel.
Note: The disc may remain in the cap, if so, remove and clean any clay remaining on the disc.
Tip: If working with metal clay, save the clay you collect then add it to your fresh clay or use to make your own metal clay slip (paste). |
STEP 2

Remove the T-handle end from the barrel. |

Note: The disc may remain on the clay on the plunger, remove the disc then clean any remaining clay from the surface. Remove any clay from the plunger. |
STEP 3
 |
|
Use a tool to remove the oh-ring from around the end of the plunger, then clean the ring and under and around where it rested. |
STEP 4
 |
|
Use a tool to clean the inside of the barrel. |
STEP 5
Use a pointed tool to clean the inside ridges of the cap of the barrel.
