Central Part of the Necklace

STEP 1

 Make your own design of the central part of the necklace, or photocopy Picture 1, enlarging it to the desired size. Transfer the design to fabric. Glue the cabochons in the marked places, as shown in Picture 1.

 Beading 50mm round cabochon. Work a basic row in A (Fig. 1). When the row is finished go through all the beads, pulling tightly on the thread. Bead around the cabochon in peyote stitch in A, G, H (Fig. 2). Go through the last bead row for several times, pulling the thread taut.
STEP 3
Beading 22x33mm oval jasper cabochons. Work a basic row in G (Fig. 1). Using G, bead around cabochons in the same way as you have done for the round cabochon (Fig. 2). The number of the rows depends on the thickness of the cabochons. Work the last row in H; repeatedly go through this row, pulling the thread taut.
STEP 4
Beading 16x20mm oval Mexican agate cabochons. Work a basic row in C (Fig. 1). Now bead in peyote stitch (Fig. 2), altering beads for each row: use C for the first row, A for the second row and H for the third row. Repeatedly go through the last bead row, pulling the thread taut.

 Beading 16x20mm oval agate cabochons. They are the smallest cabochons to the right and to the left from the centre. Work a basic row in H (Fig. 1). Continue beading in peyote stitch, altering beads for each row: use H for the first row, G for the second row and H for the third row. Now take one of the beaded agate cabochons and embroider it using B, C and G (Fig. 3). Then alter to Fig. 4 as a guide, and continue embroidering in C, G and M.

 Fill in the free space in A, B, D, F and H; see Fig. 5 to fix K, M beads and leaf pendants. Trim away all the excess fabric as close to the last bead row as possible. On the back side of the necklace fix four pins to the places, marked on the diagram. Leave 3/8’’ (1cm) space between the pins. Glue a piece of leather to the back side. Let the glue dry and trim away all the excess leather. Work the basic edge row in A (Fig. 9). What you have got now is a finished central part of the necklace with seven beaded cabochons on it; one of the beaded cabochons is flower-shaped. Work four more flower-shaped elements.

Flower-Shaped Beading

 Beading an 11mm rivoli. String 24 F beads; go through the first bead again to form a ring. Bead the rivoli I peyote stitch (Fig. 6): firstly work three rows in H, then insert the rivoli and continue beading two more rows in F. Go through the last bead row for several times, pulling the thread taut. Now weave the thread through the beads of the bezel to come back to the basic row. Repeatedly run through the basic bead row, pulling the thread taut.

Go to the second row of Fig. 5 to get into position and add a row of C beads atop of it. Now bead in B and G (Fig. 3), then alter to C, B and M (Fig. 4). The rivoli bezeling is finished. Attach the rivoli to the beaded bezels of Mexican agate and jasper cabochons (see the photograph).

 Beading the rhinestone. Attach the rhinestone to the fabric for under backing. Sew the basic row in H (Fig. 1). Go through all the beads, pulling the thread taut. Continue beading in H (Fig. 7). Trim all the excess fabric close to the bead row. Embroider the rhinestone in B, D, G and M (Fig. 8).

 Beading carnelian cabochons. They are situated to the right and to the left from the central part of the necklace. Glue the carnelian cabochons on to the fabric for under backing. Sew the basic row in B (Fig. 1). Continue beading in peyote stitch: two rows in C, one row in A, and one more row in H. Go through the last bead row for several times, pulling tightly on the thread. Trim away all the excess fabric. Sew a pin to the back side. Glue a piece of leather to the back side of the cabochon. Let the glue dry and trim away all the excess leather. Work the basic edge row in A (Fig. 9); at the opposite side of the pin sew two D seed beads while working the basic edge row (these seed beads should be 1cm spaced from each other). Insert metal rings into these seed beads. Now work a row of C, adding it to the second bezel row. Then work in B and G (Fig. 3); altering to C, B and M (Fig. 4).

Round Metal Finding

STEP 1
Glue the round metal finding to the fabric for under backing. Sew the basic row in H (Fig. 1). Then bead one row of H (Fig. 2); repeatedly go through this row pulling the thread taut. Sew one row of E seed beads around the metal finding. Trim away all the excess fabric. Glue a piece of lather to the back side. Let the glue dry and trim away all the excess leather. Work the basic row in A (Fig. 9). Attach the filigree at the bottom. On the right side of the metal finding attach three strings of M, L and G. On the left side of the metal finding work bead embroidery in C, B, G (Fig. 3). Sew L, M and D onto the top part (see the photograph).

Assembling

 String four N beads onto the pins of the central part of the necklace (Picture 2). Connect two carnelian cabochons to the right and to the left of the central part, going through these beads. Using M, attach the embroidered round metal finding to the central part of the necklace.

String four J beads onto the pins (Picture 2). String I and N onto the pins in the same way. Connect the beads into the two chains. Join one end of each chain to the pins of carnelian cabochons and the other end to the toggle clasp.

String two agate beads (Drilled top to bottom) onto the pins. Attach one agate bead to the bottom of the filigree and another one to the central part of the necklace; at the left (see the photograph). Attach the butterfly pendant to the central part of the necklace, at the right (Fig. 10).
