How to Start a 3-in-3 Chain with a Twist

See how to begin a chainmaille weave called 3 in 3 chain with a twist via this unique visual demonstration by renowned chain mail artist and teacher Sue Ripsch.

STEP 1
Begin with a length of scrap wire. Create a loop with the wire then twist the ends closed. (This will provide a grip to work with when attaching jump rings.) Pass the following jump rings through the wire tie then close: one smooth round, one twisted round and one smooth round.
STEP 2
Pass the following jump rings through the previous set of jump rings then close: one twisted round, one smooth round and one twisted round.
STEP 3
Continue to alternate sets of smooth / twisted / smooth and twisted / smooth / twisted jump rings, attaching each new set to the previous until the desired length is achieved.
