Swellegant!™ dye-oxides are dyes that soak into metal (or metal coatings), creating spectrums of color in varying intensities you prefer. Christi Friesen, polymer clay guru, explains the basics in this jewelry-making product show-and-tell.
Swellegant! dye-oxides are designed to work with other Swellegant! products and are used to add color to metal. The dye works by soaking into the metal, coloring the metal from the inside-out.
The intensity of the color can be increased by adding coatings of the dye onto the metal. Swellegant! dyes can be mixed together to form different colors.
Tip: Swellegant! dyes also work with metal coated polymer clay.
Note: Due to the nature of the inside-out coloring process, any metal colored in this way is permanent!
Instructions
Mix together equal parts of Swellegant! dye oxide and Swellegant! sealant then apply to a metal bead or component or other Swellegant! metal coated item. Let dry.
Note: The sealant will protect the color from chipping or scratching.
