Follow along with Sue Ripsch, renowned chainmaille artist, as she walks through the steps to create what she calls Sputnik earrings, a pair of chain mail earrings made with various jumprings and a bicone bead.
String one Swarovski crystal 6mm bicone onto one approximately 1-1/2 inch headpin then form a simple loop.
Pass one 2.5mm jumpring through the loop on one earwire then close. Attach one 4mm jumpring to the previous jumpring, creating a 1-1 chain.
Pass one 4mm jumpring through the previous 4mm jumpring then close. Repeat to attach a second jumpring, creating a 1-1-2 chain.
Pass one 10mm jumpring through one of the set of two 4mm jumprings, string the loop on the bicone then pass through the second 4mm jumpring. Close the jumpring.
Note: The crystal should be between the two 4mm jumprings.
Pass one 10mm jumpring between the two 4mm jumprings, above the crystal and previous 10mm jumpring. Bring the opposite end of the 10mm jumpring up inside the previous 10mm jumpring then close. Repeat to create a second earring.
