 Bead Star 2011 Contest Winners 

Announcing the winners of the fourth annual Bead Star contest! View the 32 award-winning designs and be inspired by the mix of beading and jewelry-making techniques they showcase. Entries were submitted into eight categories: Crystals, Glass, Heart Designs, Metals, Pearls, Plastics, Seed Beads and Gemstones. The editors of Stringing and Beadwork magazines teamed up to narrow those down to 20 finalists per category. After that, the readers of Beading Daily cast their votes online to select the 32 winning designs. The winning designs are showcased in the 2011 Bead Star magazine and over a dozen were later donated to an auction for the American Heart Association's women's heart health initiative.

Fire Mountain Gems and Beads reviewed the eight category winners before choosing Coral Blossom, a stunning necklace designed with knotted coral, turquoise and pearl by Sara Rhoades as the 2011 Bead Star Best in Show.

Fire Mountain Gems and Beads was once again the $3,000 Grand-Prize Sponsor of the Bead Star jewelry-making contest. The grand-prize winner received a $1,000 gift certificate from Fire Mountain Gems and Beads and an all-expense-paid trip for two to Bead Fest Santa Fe to accept the award.
