Importantly, the United States and various states have enacted laws with strict content standards for products intended for children and, in some cases, specific testing and certification. Products sold by Fire Mountain Gems and Beads® are intended for experienced jewelry-makers and designer-artists; children 14 years of age or younger should use these products with adult direction.
Fire Mountain Gems and Beads requires our suppliers to meet all applicable content requirements for lead and other regulated materials. We work closely with suppliers and testing agencies to ensure that our products meet the requirements of California's Lead-Containing Jewelry Law, California's Proposition 65, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission. We conduct periodic test of our products to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
Due to vendor restrictions, Fire Mountain Gems and Beads is unable to ship Art Clay products to certain countries. As an alternative, we offer other metal clay brands and a host of related products.
In compliance with U.S. Customs and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Fire Mountain Gems and Beads restricts the sale of certain natural materials outside the 50 United States and the District of Columbia. Fire Mountain Gems and Beads works closely with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to strictly comply with all restrictions regarding the importing and exporting of natural materials.
In compliance with Japanese import restrictions, Fire Mountain Gems and Beads restricts the export to Japan of many natural materials which may include bone, horn, wood, seed, nut, leather, leaves and flowers.
Fire Mountain Gems and Beads is unable to ship certain products that could be deemed "hazardous" material outside of the contiguous United States, including adhesives/glues/resins. Items containing hazardous materials must be shipped via Hazardous Materials Shipping to a physical address and cannot be returned.
Fire Mountain Gems and Beads, Inc. has issued product specifications to our suppliers regarding the elimination of Cadmium, Lead, Nickel and Phthalates from our products.
Fire Mountain Gems and Beads, Inc. also has a screening program to ensure that our products are in compliance with the State of California's Proposition 65 and all other applicable United States laws.
For our customers subject to the European Unions' REACH law, that law does not require companies outside of the E.U. to comply with the defined requirements of that law.
Regarding the metal nickel, generally any stainless steel or plated metallic jewelry component available in the marketplace will contain some nickel. Unless the seller says explicitly that a product is "nickel free", a buyer should assume those products contains nickel.
