When using a magnetic clasp, I always have trouble keeping the clasp from attaching itself magnetically to my crimping pliers. This makes crimping difficult. Do you have any suggestions for keeping the magnet away from the pliers?

A few options to consider once your design is secure and you are ready to crimp:

  • Hold the clasp with one hand, then use your crimping pliers to hold and crimp the crimp bead.
  • Finish the ends of your design using a soldered jump ring instead of the clasp. Once complete, add a second jump ring and half of the clasp to each end.
  • Clamp one end of the design into the clip of a third hand. Then, with both hands free, you can use the crimping pliers to finish the project without any interference from the magnet. Repeat for the other side to finish.
