How to Use Snap-Tite® Settings

Creating beautiful pendants is a snap with Snap-Tite settings. Snap-Tite settings are so simple to use for setting your faceted stones. They come in sterling silver, gold-filled and 14Kt gold in earrings and pendant findings. We do not recommend setting soft and valuable stones such as emeralds in this setting, as the snapping action might crack the stone.

Instructions

Step 1

Choose the exact size setting for your calibrated stone. For example, if you have a 5mm stone, choose a 5mm setting.

Step 2

Place the stone with the crown face down on a soft surface, such as a velvet jewelry pad.

Step 3

Position the Snap-Tite bezel above the stone with the prongs of the bezel facing down.

Step 4

Press down on the stone with the bezel; you should hear an audible snap, hence the name Snap-Tite. Your stone is now set.

Step 5

Check and make sure the prongs are snug against the girdle of your stone. The girdle is the widest part of a faceted stone and separates the crown from the pavilion (the top of the stone from the bottom). If the prongs are not perfect, use a pair of chain-nose pliers and gently press on opposing prongs. Gentle is the key—too much pressure could twist your setting or damage your stone. Repeat this step if necessary. Your stone is now set and ready to wear.
