Topics: Attaching Beads to Leather

Q.
How do I attach beads or crystals to leather ~ as in a leather cross or even a halter for a horse?
- Pam
A.
Using a needle for leather or an awl you can purchase at the hardware store, punch holes in the leather working either in a straight line or in a pattern. Cut a length of Silkon® bonded nylon thread and add a heavyweight beading needle. Tie a knot in the end of the thread. Then pass the needle, working from back to front, through the first hole in the leather. Thread on the beads or crystals of your choice then pass the thread, front to back, through the next hole. Continue working the thread through the holes in the leather, adding beads as you go. To finish, pass the needle through the last hole then tie an overhand knot.
