Topics: Replacement Parts for Vintage Costume Jewelry

Q.
Where can I buy replacement parts for vintage costume jewelry, like the colored rhinestones they used to have?
- Robyn
A.
If you're looking for the faceted ''gemstone shape,'' you can't go wrong with Swarovski crystal chatons. They're available in a wide variety of colors and sizes.

Alternatively, you can use cubic zirconia stones. They're available in six colors (including the diamond-like clear), four shapes and a multitude of sizes.

If you'll be gluing the colored stones into place, many jewelry artists use Devcon 2-part jeweler's epoxy or PascoFix® instant adhesive, either of which works well with crystal. They also dry clear, so your rhinestones won't lose their sparkle. You can review our ''Glue Types and Information'' chart to locate other options, too.
