Q.
Is titanium a good metal for someone with allergies?
- Harold, PA
A.
Titanium is a biocompatible metal that is best for anyone with a nickel allergy.

Titanium is a very strong and lustrous metal, however working with it presents challenges; it can't be soldered, and tools can easily mar its surface. Choose techniques such as wire wrapping that don't involve soldering. Dip your pliers into Tool Magic® prior to working with titanium to prevent scratching the surface. Fingerprints and lint can be easily removed with an ammoniated glass cleaner and soft dry towel. Mild detergent will remove traces of skin oil that can dull colors.

Refer to the ''Beaders' Guide to Jewelry Metals'' chart for in-depth information about the metals used in jewelry.
