Q.
I have a huge problem of losing my hook earwires, even when I use the plastic nuts to ''keep them''--is there any reason this might happen--or should I just learn to wear posts or change my earwires to leverbacks?
- Jeanette
A.
There are multiple types of earnuts and each is worth trying. The rubber type will sometimes grab the metal of the post better than plastic or metal earnuts. Another thing that can help decrease the chance of the earwire coming out, is to decrease the angle of the bend on the earwire by squeezing it a bit. You can also turn up the end of the earwire with a pair of chain-nose pliers so it has a little more work to do before coming out altogether. The leverback earwire would be a great alternative if none of these solutions helps.
