How do I change a clasp from a toggle to a lobster claw?
Cutting the current stringing material, and restringing the jewelry using Accu-Flex® beading wire is the best way to change your clasp if there is a soldered jumpring involved at the end of the design. To do this, carefully undo the clasp and place your piece in the channel of a bead board. This will keep your beads in order for restringing. Cut and slowly remove the beading wire or other material on which the piece is strung while keeping the beads in place.
Cut a length of wire that will accommodate your beads. Pass the end of the wire through a crimp tube, the loop of the lobster claw clasp and then back through the crimp tube. Crimp the tube and string the beads. String a crimp tube and a split ring or soldered closed jumpring to which you can connect the lobster claw clasp when putting the design on, pass the wire back through the crimp tube, remove slack from the wire and crimp the tube. Trim the ends of the wire and hide the crimps with crimp covers if you like.
