Q.
I have a beautiful old clasp that was used for multi (3) strands. How can I adapt this to a 2 strand necklace?

A.
First and foremost, check that the locking mechanism is intact before you plan your design and make any changes to the clasp. With age and use, old clasps can break.

If the antique clasp has three closed rings in good condition you can use the outer two only for the two strand design. To fill up the space of the middle ring, consider using 2 large bead strands in your design, or create a dangle to hang from the center ring.

Many new multi-strand clasps can also be used if the antique clasp is not usable.
