Q.
Hi, I received a bunch of Bali toggles and I was looking at the ones you all have...I am beginning to wonder if the ones I got are real Bali. Do you know how I can tell?

A.
To verify if your toggle clasps are truly Bali, you should take them to a trusted jeweler for inspection. The traditional definition of Bali beads, clasps and findings include only sterling silver components handmade by silversmiths in Bali, Indonesia. Bali beads and findings have quality decorative accents such as wirework and/or granulation as the main design element. The intricate ball patterns are created through a process called granulation. Tiny uniform ball shapes are fashioned into precision patterns, heat fused onto the surface then carefully antiqued and polished.

Fire Mountain Gems and Beads list products as Bali-style and do not call them out as specifically from Bali as items with Bali-style accents or design elements may be made in other countries.

Rajasthani silver beads and components are also influenced by the artistic style of Bali.
