Azurite-Malachite Gemstone Properties

Design Possibilities

In this "marriage" of two vibrant colored gemstones, the electric blue of azurite and malachite's rich green shades are intermingled. They are found blended together in or near copper deposits, which give them their colors. Sometimes malachite's "leafy" green swirls through azurite's deep bright blue (as in our teardrops) or the blue of azurite flashes in malachite's rich, green background (in our cabochons). Either way, their colors and unique patterns are so striking, I use them in simple settings so nothing distracts from them. Give them center stage and let them speak for themselves in jewelry that other people will long remember and want for themselves.

Metaphysical/Healing Properties

Azurite-Malachite always makes me think of Ben and Carmen. Carmen is a person who knows how to listen--to herself and to others. She just goes around noticing and encouraging people, naturally and quietly. And she's tremendously creative. She puts unusual things together and ends up with something beautiful. Recently it was two pots of brilliant red trailing geraniums hanging from the handlebars of an exercise bicycle on her patio.

Ben is a strong man, a man on the go who loves hiking and camping. He knows more about the importance of a healthy balance between mind and body than anyone I know. He also knows when to listen to himself and when to listen to Carmen. After nearly fifteen years of marriage, their eyes still light up when they look at each other.

What's Ben and Carmen's connection with azurite-malachite? People love them individually and want what they have together. From malachite comes natural healing. It speaks of ancient wisdom, telling us to listen to ourselves in order to be free of diseases. Azurite is the inspirational side of "this union," inspiring us to listen to ourselves and discover our special individual talents. That's the kind of strength and beauty this marriage of gemstones can give us.
