Autumn Jasper Necklace

The autumn jasper necklace has an earthy look reminding us of falling leaves, the changing of the seasons.
STEP 1
Cut 34 inches of thread, which will give you a 15-inch finished necklace. Thread your needle doubling the thread and knot the end of your thread several times until you have a good size knot for the bead tip to go over. Cut off any excess thread up to the knot. Take a bead tip and place a small amount of glue inside it, place the knot into the glue. (It helps to have a pair of tweezers to hold the bead tip.) Using chain-nose pliers, close the bead tip making sure to wipe off any excess glue.
STEP 2
Start with the main strand of the necklace and add the dangles later. String the main necklace pattern as follows: (If desired lay out pattern on bead board before stringing)
  • Autumn jasper oval
  • Sterling silver star rondelle
  • Autumn jasper round
  • Sterling silver coiled rondelle
  • Autumn jasper oval
  • Sterling silver beaded rondelle
  • 2 autumn jasper rondelles

  • Autumn jasper round
  • Sterling silver splitring 4.5mm
  • Autumn jasper round
  • Sterling silver leaf connector
  • Autumn jasper rondelle
  • Sterling silver round with rope edge
Then continue pattern working backwards so that both of the ends match, and the sterling silver round with rope edge being in the middle.
STEP 3
When finished stringing, knot the end of the necklace. Get the knot as close to the last bead as possible, make sure that the necklace doesn't kink. (I find using a jeweler's awl is extremely helpful in placing the knot where you want it.) Then follow Step 1 to apply your bead tip. Attach a 6mm splitring to each end of your clasp. Attach the splitring to the bead tips by opening the loop of the bead tip with pliers, attach clasp and bead tip together and close loop.
STEP 4
For the dangles you will need 6 pieces of thread that are 6 inches long. Thread the needle and tie off the end, attach a bead tip following Step 1. You will need your 2 sterling silver seamless-look rounds for the two outer most dangles. Thread the pattern as follows:
  • Sterling silver seamless-look round
  • 2 autumn jasper rondelles
  • Sterling silver beaded star rondelle
  • 2 autumn jasper rondelles
  • Sterling silver rondelle flat
  • Autumn jasper oval
  • Sterling silver beaded rondelle
  • Autumn jasper round
  • Tie a knot as close as possible to the last bead and place a crimp bead over the knot and using crimp pliers attach the crimp bead (crimping instructions are included with the crimping pliers), cut off any excess thread.
STEP 5
Follow the same Steps for the rest of the dangles omitting the sterling silver seamless-look round bead for the last 4. When done, attach one of the two dangles with the sterling silver seamless-look round bead to each splitring on the main strand of the necklace and attach the other dangle to the other splitring. The other 4 dangles will go 2 dangles each on the two leaf connectors. Attach the bead tip end to the loop of the leaf connector.
