Double-Strand Necklace and Earring Set with Fabric and Wood Beads and Gold-Plated Steel Chain

Creating links

STEP 1
Using the side-cutting pliers, cut the following lengths of chain: one 7-1/4 inch length; three 5-inch lengths; and one 2-1/2 inch length.

Using two pair of chain-nose pliers, open a jumpring and pass it through the last link of the 2-1/2 inch length of chain and the last link of one 5-inch length of chain. Close the jumpring.
STEP 2
Place one round multi-color lacquer bead onto an eyepin. Finish the end with a simple loop. Repeat to create a total of three round multi-color bead drops and one rectangle bead drop.

Attaching the clasp

STEP 3
Open a jumpring and pass it through the loop on one half of the clasp and the last link in the 7-1/4 inch length of gold-plated chain. Close the jumpring.

Assembling the necklace

STEP 4
Cut an 8-inch piece of silk cord using the scissors. Pass the cord through the last link on the other end of the 7-1/4 inch length of chain. Tie an overhand knot 1-inch from the end of the cord, leaving a 1/2 inch tail.

Tie another knot in the cord approximately 1/2 inch further down from the first knot. String onto the cord, one flowered oval bead then make a knot to hold the bead in place. String on one rectangle bead then pass the cord through the hole of a black-lip shell donut. Tie a knot between the donut and rectangle bead. Tie a half-hitch knot below the rectangle bead, leaving a 1/2 inch tail.
STEP 5
Cut a 4-inch piece of silk cord. Pass the cord through the hole in the donut then tie a knot below the donut, leaving a 1/2 inch tail on one end. Tie another knot approximately 1/2 inch further down the cord. String the end of the cord through the last link in the 2-1/2 inch length of chain and the last link in the 5-inch length of chain (the end with the jumpring). Tie a knot leaving a 1/2 inch tail on the end.
STEP 6
Cut two 2-inch pieces of silk cord. Pass the end of one 2-inch length of cord through one loop on the rectangle bead drop (from Step 2) so the loop rests in the center of the cord. Wrap the cord around the length of cording showing above the chain and below the donut (from Step 6) then make an overhand knot so the tails are even. Pass the other 2-inch length of cord through the loop on the other end of the rectangle bead drop. Tie a knot in the center of the cord so the tails are even.
STEP 7
Cut a 4-inch piece of silk cord. Pass the cord through the last link on the other end of the 5-inch length of chain. Tie an overhand knot 1-inch from the end of the cord, leaving a 1/2 inch tail. String onto the cord one black and white oval bead and a loop on one end of one round multi-color bead drop. Tie an overhand knot leaving a 1/2 inch tail.
STEP 8
Cut a 7-inch piece of cord. Pass the cord through the other loop of the bead drop then tie an overhand knot, leaving a 1/2 inch tail. Tie another knot. String onto the cord one flowered oval bead, then tie a knot. String on two black and white oval beads, placing a knot after each one. Pass the cord through an eye of a round multi color bead drop then tie an overhand knot leaving a 1/2 tail.
STEP 9
Cut a 4-inch piece of cord. Pass the cord through the other loop of the bead drop then tie an overhand knot, leaving a 1/2 inch tail. Tie another knot. String onto the cord one flowered oval bead, then tie a knot. Pass the cord through the hole in the second donut bead and tie a knot between the donut and flowered oval bead.
STEP 10
Cut a 5-inch piece of cord. Pass the cord through the last link on the other end of the 2-1/2 inch length of chain. Tie an overhand knot 1-inch from the end of the cord, leaving a 1/2 inch tail. String onto the cord one black and white oval bead, then tie a knot. String on one flowered oval bead then tie a knot. Pass the end of the cord through the last link of a 5-inch length of chain then tie an overhand knot leaving a 1/2 inch tail.
STEP 11
Cut a 4-inch piece of cord. Pass the end of the cord through the last link on the other end of the 5-inch length of chain then tie an overhand knot leaving a 1/2 inch tail. String onto the cord one black and white oval bead and the loop of one round multi color bead drop, then tie an overhand knot leaving a 1/2 inch tail.
STEP 12
Cut an 8-inch piece of cord. Pass the cord through the other loop of the bead drop then tie an overhand knot, leaving a 1/2 inch tail. Tie another knot. String onto the cord one flowered oval bead, then tie a knot. String on two black and white oval beads, placing a knot after each one. Pass the cord through the second donut bead then tie a knot between the donut bead and black and white oval bead.
STEP 13
Cut a 4-inch piece of cord. Pass the cord through the hole in the second donut bead then tie a knot leaving a 1-inch tail. Pass the other end of the cord through the last link on the remaining 5-inch length of chain then tie a knot leaving a 1-1/2 inch tail.
STEP 14
Open a jumpring and pass it through the last link on the other end of the 5-inch length of chain and the loop on the remaining half of the clasp. Close the jumpring to finish the necklace.
