Multi-Strand Necklace and Earring Set with Assorted Wood Beads

Traditional Native American beauty is translated seamlessly with tonal wood spun into a multi-strand necklace.

Strand 1

STEP 1
Using wire nippers, cut a 34-inch length of Accu-Flex® Professional Quality Beading Wire. String one crimp tube onto the wire. Pass the wire through an eyepin and back through the crimp tube leaving one end of the wire approximately 1-inch long. Pull the crimp to approximately 1/8 inch from the eyepin. Place a small amount of adhesive inside the crimp (optional).

Using the crimping pliers, crimp the crimp tube. Using wire nippers, trim the excess wire from the short end.
STEP 2
String onto the beading wire the following:
  • Five 5x4mm heishi (tan, bone, tan, brown, black)
  • One brown 30x8mm oval
  • Four 5x4mm heishi (tan, bone, tan, brown)
Continue stringing four 5x4mm heishi beads between one of each of the following larger focal beads:
  • Black 20x11mm fluted oval
  • Brown 16mm fluted round
  • Tan 20mm round
  • Bone 20x11mm fluted oval
  • Tan 30x8mm oval
  • Brown 20mm round
  • Black 16mm fluted round
  • Brown 20x11 fluted oval
  • Tan 20mm round
  • Bone 30x8mm oval
  • Tan 20x11 fluted oval
  • Brown 16mm fluted round
  • One black 20mm round
  • One 20x11 brown oval
  • One tan 30x8mm oval
  • One bone 16mm fluted oval
Finish the strand with the following five 5x4mm heishi:
  • Tan
  • Brown
  • Black
  • Brown
  • Tan
  • One crimp tube.
STEP 3
Pass the beading wire through an eyepin and back through the crimp tube. Pull the wire so the crimp is 1/8 inch from the loop on the eyepin. Make sure there is no slack along the entire length of the necklace, yet it's not so tight that the necklace is rigid. Place a small amount of adhesive inside the crimp (optional).

Using the crimping pliers, crimp the crimp tube. Using wire nippers, trim excess wire from the end.

Strand 2

STEP 4
Repeat Step 1 to attach a second strand of Accu-Flex® beading wire to one eyepin.

String onto the beading wire, 4x3mm rondelles in the following order: tan, bone, tan, brown, black and brown. Repeat forty-three times for a total of forty-four sets. String on one tan rondelle, one bone rondelle and one crimp tube.

Follow Step 3 to attach the end of the strand to the other eyepin.

Strand 3

STEP 5
Repeat Step 1 to attach a third strand of beading wire to one eyepin.

String onto the beading wire the following:
  • 4x3mm heishi in the following order: black, brown, tan, bone, tan, and brown. Repeat six times for a total of seven sets.
  • One tan 16mm fluted round bead.
  • 4x3mm heishi in the following order: black, brown, tan, bone, tan, and brown. Repeat 19 times for a total of 20 sets.
  • One black 16mm fluted round bead
  • 4x3mm heishi in the following order: black, brown, tan, bone, tan, and brown. Repeat three times for a total of four sets.
  • One brown and one tan 4x3mm heishi.
Follow Step 3 to attach the end of the strand to the other eyepin.

Strand 4

STEP 6
Repeat Step 1 to attach a fourth strand of beading wire to one eyepin.

String onto the beading wire the following:
  • 5x4mm rondelles in the following order: black, brown, tan, bone, tan, and brown. Repeat three times for a total of four sets.
  • One 5x4mm rondelle, one tan 5x4mm rondelle, one bone 5x4mm rondelle and one brown 30x8mm oval bead.
  • 5x4mm rondelles in the following order: black, brown, tan, bone, tan, and brown. Repeat one time for a total of two sets.
  • One black 16mm fluted round bead.
  • One brown 5x4mm rondelle, one tan 5x4mm rondelle, one black 30x8mm oval bead, 5x4mm rondelles in the following order: brown, tan, bone, tan, brown, black, brown and one bone 30x8mm oval bead.
  • 5x4mm rondelles in the following order: tan, brown, black, brown, tan, and bone. Repeat one time for a total of two sets.
  • One tan 5x4mm rondelle, one brown 5x4mm rondelle, and one black 30x8mm oval bead.
  • 5x4mm rondelles in the following order: brown, tan, bone, tan, brown, and black. Repeat one time for a total of two sets.
  • One brown 5x4mm rondelle, tan 5x4mm rondelle, bone 5x4mm rondelle, tan 5x4mm rondelle, and one brown 30x8mm oval bead.
  • 5x4mm rondelles in the following order: black, brown, tan, bone, tan, and brown, then one black 30x8mm oval bead.
  • 5x4mm rondelles in the following order: brown, tan, bone, tan, brown, and black. Repeat four times for a total of five sets.
  • One brown 5x4mm rondelle, one tan 5x4mm rondelle, one bone 5x4mm rondelle, and one tan 5x4mm rondelle.
Follow Step 3 to attach the end of the strand to the other eyepin.

Strand 5

STEP 7
Repeat Step 1 to attach a fifth strand of beading wire to one eyepin.

String onto the beading wire the following:
  • 5x4mm rondelles in the following order: black, brown, tan, bone, tan, and brown. Repeat three times for a total of four sets.
  • 5x4mm rondelles in the following order: brown, tan, bone, and tan.
  • One brown 20x11mm fluted oval.
  • 5x4mm heishi in the following order: black, brown, tan, bone, tan, and brown. Repeat thirteen times for a total of fourteen sets.
  • 5x4mm rondelles in the following order: black, brown, tan, and bone.
  • One brown 20x11mm fluted oval.
  • 5x4mm heishi in the following order: black, brown, tan, bone, tan, and brown. Repeat ten times for a total of eleven sets.
  • One black 5x4mm heishi.
Follow Step 3 to attach the end of the strand to the other eyepin.

Strand 6

STEP 8
Repeat Step 1 to attach a sixth strand of beading wire to one eyepin.

String onto the beading wire the following:
  • 4x3mm rondelles in the following order: brown, black, brown, tan, bone, and tan. Repeat eleven times for a total of twelve sets.
  • 4x3mm rondelles in the following order: black, brown, tan, and bone.
  • One bone 20x11mm fluted oval.
  • 4x3mm heishi in the following order: tan, brown, black, brown, tan, and bone. Repeat nine times for a total of ten sets.
  • 4x3mm rondelle in the following order: tan, brown, black, brown, and tan.
  • One bone 20x11mm fluted oval.
  • 4x3mm heishi in the following order: tan, brown, black, brown, tan, and bone. Repeat six times for a total of seven sets.
Follow Step 3 to attach the end of the strand to the other eyepin.

Strand 7

STEP 9
Repeat Step 1 to attach a seventh strand to one eyepin.

String onto the beading wire 5x5mm cubes in the following order:
  • Tan
  • Brown
  • Black
  • Brown
  • Tan
  • Bone
Repeat twenty times for a total of twenty one sets. Followed by one tan, one brown, one black, and one brown.

Follow Step 3 to attach the end of the strand to the other eyepin.

Strand 8

STEP 10
Repeat Step 1 to attach an eighth strand to one eyepin.

String onto the beading wire the following:
  • 5x5mm cubes in the following order: tan, brown, black, brown, tan, and bone. Repeat five times for a total of six sets.
  • One tan 5x5mm cube and one brown 5x5mm cube.
  • One black 20mm round.
  • 5x5mm cubes in the following order: brown, tan, bone, tan, brown, and black. Repeat three times for a total of four sets.
  • One brown 5x5mm cube, and one tan 20mm round bead.
  • 5x5mm cubes in the following order: bone, tan, brown, black, brown, and tan. Repeat eight times for a total of nine sets.
  • One bone 5x5mm cube and one tan 5x5mm cube.
Follow Step 3 to attach the end of the strand to the other eyepin.

Finishing the Ends

STEP 11
String one gold cone, wide end first, onto an eyepin on one end of the necklace. Using round-nose pliers, form a wrapped loop on the top of the cone to secure it in place.

Repeat on the other end of the necklace.
STEP 12
Using two pairs of chain-nose pliers, open a jumpring. Pass the open jumpring through a wrapped loop on top of one of the bead cones and through the loop on the hook side of the clasp. Close the jumpring. Repeat to attach the eye portion of the clasp to the opposite wrapped loop.
