Dazzle your friends and loved ones--and draw attention to your storefront--with an easy-to-make, multi-strand necklace that's guaranteed to be the life of the party. Like the chic cocktail, this elegant design is both captivating and refreshing, and looks stunning with any gemstone material or cultured freshwater pearls. Use colors of pearls and gemstones to coordinate with the season or wardrobe for which you're designing. This project captures the spirit of every season--and matches any outfit--with lapis lazuli gemstone beads and alternating sapphire and Montana blue Swarovski crystal bicones. The beauty of this necklace design is how the strands naturally twist together in an unstructured drape that adds to its appeal. Each strand contains similar patterns of alternating lapis lazuli beads and Swarovski crystal bicone beads, with intermittent sterling silver discs and saucers. The outer two strands of each loop are identical, and the inner two strands of each loop will vary slightly. Placement of the sterling silver oval bead will be off center, to one side of the design, and all four strands will pass through the oval bead.
|Using your wire nippers, cut four 24-inch lengths of Accu-Flex® professional quality beading wire and eight 5mm lengths of French wire. Attach two lengths of Accu-Flex® to each loop on one end of the clasp using your crimp tubes, French wire and crimping pliers.|
String a sterling silver disc followed by a lapis bead. Add another Montana blue bicone and continue stringing for a total of six lapis beads and five bicone beads. Add a sterling silver saucer and repeat the pattern. Repeat one more time for a total of three sets of six lapis and five bicones and one set of three lapis and two bicones.
Add a Montana blue bicone to your last lapis bead and string through the large oval bead. Add another bicone and repeat the pattern in Step 2 for a total of two sets of six lapis beads and five bicone beads, and one set of three lapis beads and two bicone beads. String four more Montana blue bicones and attach to your clasp with French wire, or secure with a bead stopper. Note: Bead stoppers allow you to adjust the tension of the strands while stringing, which is helpful when passing strands through the large oval bead. When all strands are complete, release the stoppers one at a time, adjust beads so they are snug on the strand and attach to the clasp.
|Starting with the second strand attached to the same loop as the strand you just completed, string one sterling silver saucer, one lapis bead and one sapphire crystal bicone. Continue stringing the lapis and crystal beads for a total of five lapis beads and four bicones. Add a sterling silver disc and repeat the pattern. Add a sterling silver disc and another lapis bead, and continue stringing the lapis/bicone pattern for a total of 10 lapis beads and nine sapphire bicones.
String four more sapphire bicones and pass through the large oval bead. Add four more sapphire bicones and another lapis bead. Repeat the lapis/bicone pattern for a total of five lapis beads and four bicones. Add a sterling silver saucer and repeat the lapis/bicone pattern for a total of three sets of five lapis beads and four bicones (after the oval bead). Add a sterling silver saucer and attach to clasp with French wire or secure with a bead stopper. Note: If using bead stoppers, keep strands on same loop together by attaching to the same bead stopper as your first strand. This will prevent strands from twisting before attaching to clasp.
|Starting with the inner strand on the second clasp loop, repeat Step 4 only, instead of stringing sets of five lapis beads and one set of 10 lapis beads, string a total of five sets of seven lapis beads. Pass strand through the large oval bead after three sets, adding four sapphire bicones to each side of the bead. Following the oval bead, there will be two sets of seven lapis beads. When strand is complete, attach to clasp with French wire or secure with another bead stopper.|
Now you can celebrate any occasion in style with a stunning, new necklace that exudes elegance.
