A simple strand of red and white square seed beads, paired with sterling silver rondelle beads and green lampworked beads, creates a Christmas candy cane-style necklace with playful appeal.
Measure and cut a 22-inch length of brick red Accu-Flex® professional-quality beading wire. Thread onto the beading wire, one crimp bead and the lobster claw clasp.
Pass the beading wire back through the crimp bead, leaving one end of the wire approximately 1-inch long, then pull the crimp and bead tight against the loop of the clasp. Using your crimping pliers, crimp the crimp bead. Using the side-cutting pliers, cut the 1-inch tail.
For a professional finish, place a crimp cover over the crimp bead then, using chain-nose pliers, gently close the crimp cover for a secure fit.
String onto the beading wire a total of 28 square seed beads in an alternating red and white pattern onto the beading wire, beginning with white.
String on a sterling silver rondelle, a green lampworked bead and a sterling silver rondelle bead followed by 12 square seed beads in alternating red and white colors, beginning with white. Repeat this pattern three times for a total of four sets.
Finish stringing the second half of the necklace by threading on a sterling silver rondelle bead, a green lampworked glass bead, a sterling silver rondelle bead and 28 square seed beads in alternating red and white colors, beginning with white.
String a crimp bead and a fancy twisted silver-plated jumpring onto the beading wire. Pass the beading wire back through the crimp bead then pull the wire snug so the crimp bead and the jumpring are closer to the beads. Make sure there is very little slack along the length of the necklace, yet not taut, so it will have a nice drape.
Using the crimping pliers, crimp the crimp bead. Cut the tail of the beading wire. Place a crimp cover over the crimp bead then, using chain-nose pliers, close the crimp cover.
