Earrings with Swarovski Crystal Beads and Mother-of-Pearl Beads

Cool Christmas cola bear earrings made with lustrous mother-of-pearl and red Swarovski crystal sparkle with nostalgic Christmas colors.

STEP 1
String a 6mm Siam AB Swarovski crystal bicone bead onto a silver-plated headpin.
STEP 2
With the round-nose pliers, grasp the headpin approximately 1/8 inch above the 6mm crystal bead and make a 90 degree bend in the wire. Rotate the pliers to an upright position, still grasping the wire, and pull the end of the wire around the top of the pliers toward you, making a half loop. Replace the top jaw of the pliers with the bottom jaw, then continue to form the wire around the pliers until you have a full loop and the end of the headpin is facing away from you.
STEP 3
Keep the round-nose pliers in the loop and, with the chain-nose pliers, grip the end of the wire. Slowly wrap the end of the wire around the headpin starting at the bottom of the loop wrapping downward tightly until you reach the crystal bead, usually two to three wraps. Use side-cutting pliers to snip off excess wire.
STEP 4
Apply a small dot of Vigor super glue to one side of the mother-of-pearl Zuni bear bead approximately where the eye would be located. Place a flat back crystal onto the glue dot and let dry.
STEP 5
Thread the following beads onto the silver-plated eyepin from Step 3:
  • 12mm Zuni bear
  • 4x1mm sterling silver rondelle bead
  • 4mm siam Swarovski crystal bead
  • 4x1mm sterling silver rondelle bead
STEP 6
With the round-nose pliers, grasp the headpin approximately 1/8 inch above the sterling silver rondelle bead and make a 90 degree bend in the wire. Rotate the pliers to an upright position, still grasping the wire, and pull the end of the wire around the top of the pliers toward you making a half loop. Replace the top jaw of the pliers with the bottom jaw, then continue to form the wire around the pliers until you have a full loop and the end of the headpin is facing away from you.
STEP 7
Keep the round-nose pliers in the loop and, with the chain-nose pliers, grip the end of the wire. Slowly wrap the end of the wire around the headpin starting at the bottom of the loop wrapping downward tightly until you reach the bead, usually two to three wraps. Use side-cutting pliers to snip off any excess wire.
STEP 8
Using the chain-nose pliers, grasp the loop on a silver-plated eyepin on the side with the gap and gently twist it open. Hang the wrapped-loop Swarovski crystal bead from Step 3 onto the opened loop and gently twist the loop closed.
STEP 9
Using the flat-nose pliers, grasp the open side of the loop on the earwire and gently twist open. Hang the strung beads onto the loop and gently twist the loop closed.
STEP 10
Repeat Steps 1 - 9 to make the second earring.
